My deductible is $3,500 and it fills up with surprise bills alone. When I switched jobs, I switched insurances. Even though I hurt my back 10 years ago, my new plan didn’t consider this a pre-existing condition. I had to pay out of pocket for pretty much everything. What’s the point? That’s why I use direct primary care (DPC). It’s actually real health care that’s reliable.
The biggest thing for me is that my DPC doctor takes a holistic approach. You don’t feel like you’re being hoarded through like a cow. I have high blood pressure… my doctor helps me work through all the physical, emotional, and spiritual parts of me. I like the way the payments are set up too. It’s easy and transparent.
It wasn’t easy for me to find this practice. I had to do a lot of online research because so many other healthcare facilities have monopolized the area. But now that I’ve found DPC, I don't foresee myself going back. It works for me.
Cheri switched to direct primary care after realizing that she was continuously paying out-of-pocket in her $3500 high deductible plan.
